Of domain expertise behind the brief
A 30-year coaching vision, distilled into an app
Ben Stork - a fitness coach with over 30 years of experience - built the B.E.N. programme to help teenagers understand the connection between their metabolic health and mental wellbeing. The app had to make students more self-aware without feeling like they were being checked up on.
That meant one of the hardest design constraints in software: fully anonymous data that still gives each child personalised insights - and gives teachers a clear view of class and year-group wellbeing, not individuals.
Teenage-first design
Simple, clean and uncomplicated - a daily check-in that takes seconds, not a chore to be avoided.
Class-level insight
Staff monitor the wellbeing of a class or year group as a whole - spotting trends without singling anyone out.

The technical graft behind the friendly interface
Working with our partner Mohunky LTD who owned the client management, design and UX. We built everything underneath - the native apps, the APIs, the dashboards and the gamification engine that keeps young users coming back.
Anonymous by design
Anonymous sign-up and recovery. No student is identified in the system by any personal information - ever.
One codebase, two stores
Native iOS and Android apps built with C#, XAML and .NET MAUI - one team, one source of truth.
Store-compliant sync
Carefully crafted background services keep scores, streaks and content in sync - without tripping platform policies.
Gamification engine
Streaks and monthly badge challenges that turn daily check-ins into a habit young people actually enjoy.
Rules builder
Administrators define custom app behaviour from user scores - with version-controlled rule sets for streaks and challenges they can track over time.
The Flux Capacitor
Time-sensitive challenges adjusted in real time in the future and the past - perfect for both QA teams to test gaming features.
Simple screens. Serious engineering underneath.
Five of the screens that make B.E.N. feel effortless - each one backed by real-time telemetry, offline-friendly storage and an API layer built to scale.
In schools, and getting positive feedback
The app rolled out to a select number of schools at the start of the academic year. Students found it easy to log and track their wellness; staff are confidently monitoring the wellbeing of year groups.
And the work doesn't stop at launch - it's a 2+ year partnership, with new features, SDK updates and store policy compliance handled for the life of the product.
“[hayman.dev] have built my website and my app: Biorhythms.Exercise.Nutrition Ltd. Completely new territory for me, they have been brilliantly supportive and patient while guiding me through the process from concept to delivery. I cannot recommend them highly enough.”
